As a Head of Year, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the academic and personal development of students. Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and support students in your care, ensuring their academic and personal development is prioritised
- Foster a culture of high expectations and community within your year group
- Identify and address barriers to learning, including behaviour, SEND and EAL needs
- Build strong relationships with parents and carers to support student success
- Develop and upskill a team of form tutors to deliver consistent pastoral care
- Oversee and manage year group activities, including assemblies and tutor time
- Deliver outstanding teaching in your specialist subject (Maths, English or PE)
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience in teaching Maths, English or PE at secondary level
- Demonstrated ability to inspire and motivate students to achieve their best
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
- Experience in pastoral leadership or a similar role
Preferred
- Experience in a Head of Year or similar leadership role
- Background in supporting students with diverse needs, including SEND and EAL
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills with students, parents and colleagues
- Experience in curriculum development or subject leadership
