The Opportunity:

As a Head of Year, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the academic and personal development of students. Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and support students in your care, ensuring their academic and personal development is prioritised
  • Foster a culture of high expectations and community within your year group
  • Identify and address barriers to learning, including behaviour, SEND and EAL needs
  • Build strong relationships with parents and carers to support student success
  • Develop and upskill a team of form tutors to deliver consistent pastoral care
  • Oversee and manage year group activities, including assemblies and tutor time
  • Deliver outstanding teaching in your specialist subject (Maths, English or PE)

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in teaching Maths, English or PE at secondary level
  • Demonstrated ability to inspire and motivate students to achieve their best
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
  • Experience in pastoral leadership or a similar role

Preferred

  • Experience in a Head of Year or similar leadership role
  • Background in supporting students with diverse needs, including SEND and EAL
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills with students, parents and colleagues
  • Experience in curriculum development or subject leadership
