The Opportunity:

As the Headteacher, you will lead a vibrant, family-focused independent prep school (3–11), guiding its continued success through strategic leadership and a commitment to excellence. This role offers the opportunity to shape a warm, inspiring community where children thrive and staff are valued.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide visionary leadership and strategic direction to ensure the school continues to deliver outstanding academic and pastoral outcomes.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive culture that promotes the well-being and development of all pupils and staff.
  • Manage and develop the school’s academic and operational performance, ensuring alignment with the school’s mission and values.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with parents, staff, and the wider community.
  • Oversee the professional development and performance management of teaching and support staff.
  • Ensure the implementation of a broad and balanced curriculum that encourages a lifelong love of learning.
  • Promote a strong sense of school identity, community spirit, and school values through the House system and other initiatives.
  • Ensure the school meets all regulatory and compliance requirements, including safeguarding and data protection standards.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience as a Headteacher or Deputy Head with a track record of successful school leadership.
  • Strong academic and pastoral leadership skills with a deep understanding of early years to primary education.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain positive relationships at all levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and lead a school team effectively, with a focus on staff development and retention.
  • Experience in delivering high standards of teaching and learning, with a commitment to continuous improvement.

Preferred

  • Experience in leading a small, independent school with a strong community ethos.
  • Familiarity with the UK education system and relevant statutory requirements.
  • Experience in developing and implementing school strategies and improvement plans.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and child protection, with relevant qualifications or experience.
