The Opportunity:

As a Health and Safety Advisor, you will play a key role in ensuring the school maintains a safe and compliant environment. You will be responsible for conducting risk assessments, audits, and training to support the school’s commitment to health and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive risk assessments and safety audits across the school.
  • Investigate accidents and incidents to identify root causes and prevent recurrence.
  • Deliver training sessions on health and safety topics such as fire safety and manual handling.
  • Collaborate with managers to develop and implement health and safety procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with current health and safety legislation and best practices.
  • Support the school in achieving continuous improvement in health and safety standards.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports on all health and safety activities.
  • Work closely with staff at all levels to promote a culture of safety and responsibility.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Up-to-date knowledge of current health and safety legislation.
  • NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent qualification.
  • Membership of IOSH or relevant professional body.
  • Strong IT skills and ability to use relevant software.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and influence others effectively.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and attention to detail.

Preferred

  • Experience in a similar role within an educational setting.
  • Experience with health and safety training delivery.
  • Experience with accident investigation and reporting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
