The Opportunity:
A Health and Safety Manager is needed to lead the development and implementation of comprehensive health and safety policies, ensuring the well-being of students, staff, and visitors. This role is essential in maintaining a safe and compliant school environment aligned with international best practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and monitor comprehensive health and safety policies and procedures aligned with international best practices and local regulations.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and risk assessments across all school facilities to identify and address potential hazards.
- Oversee the development and execution of emergency response plans, including fire drills, lockdown procedures, and crisis management strategies.
- Coordinate health and safety audits and prepare documentation for accreditation visits and regulatory inspections.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety laws, regulations, and school accreditation standards.
- Identify, evaluate, and mitigate risks across all school operations, including facilities, events, and activities.
- Develop and deliver training programs for staff, students, and stakeholders on health, safety, risk management, and compliance procedures.
- Act as the primary liaison with regulatory authorities, accreditation agencies, and emergency response organizations.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience in health and safety management, ideally in an educational or international environment.
- Strong knowledge of local and international health and safety regulations.
- Certification in occupational health and safety (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH) or equivalent.
- Excellent leadership, organisational, and communication skills.
- Ability to analyze complex situations and develop practical, effective solutions.
- Proficiency in incident management systems and risk assessment tools.
Preferred
- Experience working in an international school or multicultural environment.
- Familiarity with international accreditation standards (e.g., CIS, MSA, IB).
- Advanced qualifications in risk management, occupational safety, or a related field.
- Experience conducting workshops or delivering professional development.
- Multilingual abilities, particularly in French.
