The Opportunity:
As a Health and Safety Officer, you will play a key role in ensuring a secure and compliant working environment for all. You will work closely with the Senior Leadership Team to implement best practices and promote a positive safety culture across the school.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement Health and Safety policies in line with legislation and best practice
- Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify and mitigate risks
- Provide training and guidance to staff on Health and Safety procedures
- Maintain accurate records and reports on Health and Safety incidents and actions taken
- Collaborate with external agencies and internal teams to ensure compliance with standards such as HSG65 and ISO 45001
- Support the Head of Operations in managing Health and Safety initiatives
- Ensure that all staff are aware of and follow the school’s Health and Safety Policy
- Manage emergency procedures and contribute to the development of risk assessments
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a Health and Safety role within a complex or multi-faceted environment
- NEBOSH General Certificate (or IOSH equivalent) and membership of a recognised professional body
- Working towards or holding a NEBOSH Fire Certificate (or equivalent)
- Strong communication and training skills
- Ability to prioritise tasks and work effectively at all levels of the organisation
Preferred
- Experience in the education sector
- Familiarity with Health and Safety legislation and standards
- Experience in managing large-scale facilities or multi-site operations
