The Opportunity:
As a Heritage Language Tutor, you will play a vital role in helping students develop their skills in heritage languages such as Polish, Arabic, Italian, German, Mandarin, and Japanese. You will support students in preparing for GCSE exams through small group tutoring, assessment, and collaboration with the languages team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support students in developing their language skills through small group tutoring sessions.
- Mark and assess mock exams and practice assessments to provide constructive feedback.
- Collaborate with the languages team to develop effective teaching strategies and exam preparation plans.
- Liaise with students and parents to monitor progress and set achievable learning goals.
- Stay up to date with curriculum changes and best practices in heritage language education.
- Provide guidance and support to students aiming to achieve GCSE qualifications.
- Contribute to the development of teaching resources and materials tailored to heritage language learners.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Experience in teaching or tutoring students in a heritage language.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with teachers and support staff.
- Commitment to student success and a passion for language education.
- Familiarity with GCSE assessment criteria and teaching methods.
Preferred
- Experience with small group tutoring or one-on-one support.
- Knowledge of Polish, Arabic, Italian, German, Mandarin, or Japanese.
- Experience with marking and assessing exams.
- Background in secondary education or language teaching.
- Experience with curriculum development or resource creation.
