The Opportunity:
A High School PE Teacher is needed to inspire students through innovative, standards-based physical and health education. This role emphasizes real-world application, student agency, and a commitment to promoting lifelong wellness. The successful candidate will also contribute to the school’s co-curricular programs through coaching.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and deliver standards-based, hands-on learning experiences in Physical and Health Education
- Foster student agency through inquiry, reflection, and skill development in both individual and team settings
- Teach IB Sports, Exercise and Health Science (SEHS) with a focus on connecting classroom learning to real-world applications
- Coach in one or more athletic seasons as part of the school’s vibrant co-curricular program
- Collaborate with counselors, administration, and other staff to support student well-being and academic success
- Assess student learning and provide timely, quality feedback to improve student outcomes
- Participate in professional development to ensure research-supported teaching practices
- Communicate effectively with parents or guardians to support student learning and well-being
- Mentor students through the Advisory and House programs to build SEL and academic skills
- Support student participation through sponsorship of a student club or non-stipended extracurricular activity
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Demonstrated experience in teaching Physical and Health Education at the high school level
- Experience teaching IB Sports, Exercise and Health Science (SEHS)
- Strong ability to connect classroom learning to real-world applications
- Commitment to promoting lifelong wellness and healthy, active lifestyles
- Experience in coaching within a school setting
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Preferred
- Experience with inquiry-based and student-centered teaching methods
- Background in curriculum development and assessment
- Experience with differentiated instruction and supporting diverse learners
- Fluency in both spoken and written English
- Experience working in a multicultural and international environment
