Higher Level Teaching Assistant needed – support SENDCO and students with SEND.

The Opportunity:

We are seeking a Higher Level Teaching Assistant to support the SENDCO in delivering high-quality intervention programmes for students with special educational needs and disabilities. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about making a real difference in the lives of young people and is committed to supporting student progress.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the SENDCO in delivering targeted intervention programmes for students with SEND.
  • Liaise effectively with class teachers, parents, and external agencies to ensure consistent support for students.
  • Assist in developing and implementing individualised learning plans in line with students’ needs.
  • Monitor and track student progress, providing regular updates to the SENDCO and teaching staff.
  • Deliver one-to-one and small group support sessions to students with SEND.
  • Build positive, supportive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Participate in staff meetings and training sessions to enhance professional development.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to student support and interventions.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A Teaching Assistant Level 4 qualification (or equivalent).
  • Proven experience delivering intervention programmes to students with SEND.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Strong teamwork capabilities and classroom management skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Preferred

  • Experience working with external agencies and support services.
  • Knowledge of inclusive education practices and strategies.
  • Experience with behaviour management and emotional support for students with additional needs.
  • Familiarity with educational software and record-keeping systems.
