The Opportunity:
As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs in mainstream classrooms. This position involves leading interventions, delivering Humanities, and providing keyworker support. The successful candidate will be part of a dedicated team committed to helping students transition successfully to adulthood.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support pupils with Special Educational Needs across a range of subjects in mainstream classrooms
- Deliver interventions linked to students’ Education Health Care Plans
- Provide keyworker support for Humanities and small group provision
- Work closely with the Emmaus Team to ensure effective support strategies
- Communicate regularly with families and staff to ensure consistent support for pupils
- Assist in the development and implementation of individual learning plans
- Participate in staff training and professional development opportunities
- Maintain accurate records and reports on student progress and interventions
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Experience working with children aged between 5 -19 years old with Special Educational Needs
- Strong understanding of classroom practice and working with a variety of pupil needs
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work flexibly and independently within a team environment
- Commitment to the school’s values and mission
Preferred
- Experience in delivering small group provision or keyworker support
- Training or experience in special educational needs support
- Experience with Education Health Care Plans
- Knowledge of inclusive teaching strategies
- Familiarity with Catholic values and education principles
