Summary:

Higher Level Teaching Assistant required to support teaching and learning in a specialist primary school.

The Opportunity:

As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) and helping them achieve their full potential. This is an opportunity to make a real difference in a dynamic and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist teaching staff in preparing classrooms and resources for lessons and activities.
  • Support pupils with SEND by implementing individual learning plans and providing tailored interventions.
  • Monitor and report on pupil behaviour and progress to teaching staff.
  • Deliver pastoral support and maintain constructive relationships with pupils and their parents.
  • Supervise pupils during lessons, breaks, and after school, ensuring a safe and positive environment.
  • Assist with school trips, events, and activities, promoting inclusion and engagement.
  • Provide administrative and clerical support to teaching staff, including lesson planning and record keeping.
  • Support the use of ICT and computing in learning activities, developing pupils’ independence and skills.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Relevant experience in a teaching or learning support role, preferably within a specialist education setting.
  • Strong knowledge of supporting pupils with special educational needs and disabilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Commitment to promoting inclusion, British values, and positive behaviour.

Preferred

  • Experience in developing and delivering individual learning plans.
  • Familiarity with safeguarding and data protection policies.
  • Experience in using specialist equipment and resources to support learning.
  • Previous involvement in pastoral support or behaviour management strategies.
