The Opportunity:

As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting teaching and learning, helping pupils develop confidence, independence, and a belief in their own potential. You will lead small-group and one-to-one interventions, deliver planned learning activities, and support the wider curriculum and school community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead small-group and one-to-one interventions to support academic, social, and emotional development
  • Deliver planned learning activities under the guidance of teaching staff and contribute to planning where appropriate
  • Provide high-quality support for pupils with diverse learning needs, helping them engage positively and make meaningful progress
  • Assist with assessment, monitoring, and recording pupil progress
  • Support behaviour, wellbeing, and inclusion across the school
  • Lead learning in the classroom during teacher absence or when directed
  • Help create a positive, safe, and stimulating learning environment indoors and outdoors
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils, colleagues, and families

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience in supporting pupils with special educational needs
  • Ability to lead learning activities and support teaching across the curriculum
  • Understanding of how to support behaviour, engagement, and emotional wellbeing
  • Flexibility to work across classrooms, outdoor learning, and wider school activities
  • Commitment to helping every pupil feel valued and capable

Preferred

  • HLTA status or equivalent experience
  • Experience in a specialist SEMH provision setting
  • Proactive, reflective, and collaborative approach to work
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
