The Opportunity:

We are seeking a Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated team and make a meaningful impact on students’ academic and personal development. This role offers the chance to lead interventions, support learning, and contribute to a positive, inclusive school culture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively with teachers to implement effective strategies that support learning and progress across the curriculum
  • Lead small group or one-to-one interventions tailored to the specific needs of students
  • Collaborate with wellbeing teams to support students’ emotional regulation and engagement
  • Build positive relationships with students, acting as a role model and providing empathetic, professional support
  • Design and deliver interventions that promote emotional regulation and positive behaviour
  • Track and assess student progress, adjusting strategies as needed to ensure effective learning outcomes
  • Support the professional development of teaching staff by sharing expertise and mentoring others

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience working with children and young people with social/emotional difficulties and challenging behaviour
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to use ICT tools for communication and tracking progress
  • Demonstrated emotional availability, resilience, and the ability to support students in challenging situations
  • Experience in leading individual or small group interventions and mentoring others
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and demonstrate excellent problem-solving skills

Preferred

  • Prior experience in a Special Educational Needs environment
  • Experience supporting adapted teaching approaches and challenging behaviour
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and a reflective approach to practice
