The Opportunity:

We are seeking a passionate and driven Higher Level Teaching Assistant - SEMH Lead to join our dedicated team. This role is pivotal in supporting students with complex emotional and mental health needs, ensuring they receive the care and guidance necessary to succeed academically and personally. The opportunity allows you to make a real difference in the lives of young people within a supportive and ambitious school community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students with complex emotional and mental health needs through tailored interventions and strategies.
  • Work closely with teachers and support staff to develop and implement individual education plans.
  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to students, focusing on emotional well-being and academic progress.
  • Monitor and record student progress, sharing insights with teaching staff and senior leadership.
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of pastoral care programs and initiatives.
  • Attend training and professional development sessions to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Promote positive behavior and a supportive learning environment.
  • Collaborate with external agencies and parents to ensure a holistic approach to student support.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Relevant experience in a teaching or support role, preferably with students with SEMH needs.
  • A strong understanding of emotional and mental health support strategies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and child protection.
  • A relevant qualification in education or a related field.

Preferred

  • Experience in a school setting, particularly within a multi-academy trust.
  • Knowledge of behaviour management and positive learning strategies.
  • Experience with pastoral care and student welfare programs.
  • Experience in developing and delivering training sessions.
