The Opportunity:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality, engaging History lessons across KS3, KS4, and KS5.
  • Support students in achieving excellent outcomes, with a focus on both attainment and progress.
  • Work collaboratively with the Director of Learning (Social Sciences) and other department heads to maintain and enhance the quality of teaching and learning.
  • Contribute to the development of the History curriculum and assessment strategies.
  • Provide pastoral support and mentorship to students where appropriate.
  • Participate in staff development and training opportunities.
  • Engage in extra-curricular activities and school events that promote History and related subjects.
  • Monitor and assess student progress regularly, providing constructive feedback and support.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with QTS or equivalent.
  • Relevant subject knowledge and experience in teaching History at KS3, KS4, and KS5.
  • Experience of working in a high-performing school environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Preferred

  • Experience of leading or contributing to departmental initiatives.
  • Experience with curriculum development and assessment.
  • Experience of teaching a range of ability levels and supporting student progress.
  • Experience of working with diverse student groups and families.
