The Opportunity:
A school is seeking a passionate and dedicated History Teacher to join their team on a full-time, fixed-term basis for a year of maternity cover. This role offers the chance to make a meaningful impact on students’ learning and development within a supportive and inspiring environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality, engaging History lessons to students across key stages.
- Plan and develop a curriculum that challenges and inspires students to think critically and independently.
- Foster a classroom environment that promotes curiosity, discussion, and a love of learning.
- Support students’ academic progress through formative and summative assessments.
- Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and contribute to departmental planning.
- Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.
- Monitor and assess student performance, providing constructive feedback and guidance.
- Promote the school’s ethos and values, including ‘Work Hard, Be Kind,’ in all aspects of teaching and student interaction.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified teacher with a relevant degree in History or a related subject.
- Proven experience in teaching History at the secondary level.
- Strong classroom management and organisational skills.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team and take ownership of departmental responsibilities.
Preferred
- Experience with teaching a broad and balanced History curriculum.
- Familiarity with innovative teaching methods and technologies.
- Experience in pastoral care or student mentorship.
- Previous experience in a school with a similar ethos or values-based approach.
