The Opportunity:
As a Horticulture Lecturer, you will deliver engaging, practical, and inclusive land-based education to learners at various levels. This role is pivotal in helping students develop vocational skills, confidence, and independence, while achieving meaningful academic and personal outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, deliver, and assess a broad, balanced, and differentiated Horticulture and land-based studies curriculum.
- Teach a range of programmes, including horticulture, land-based studies, and elements of small animal care and husbandry.
- Assess, monitor, and track student attendance, progress, development, and attainment.
- Provide timely, constructive written and verbal feedback to support learners’ next steps.
- Prepare, review, and update subject materials to ensure a high-quality learning experience.
- Ensure teaching and learning meets internal quality standards and external inspection requirements.
- Contribute to marketing, promotion, and recruitment activities for land-based programmes.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to maximise student outcomes and maintain high standards of provision.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- GCSE Maths and English at grades A–C / 4–9 (or equivalent).
- Experience within the UK horticulture industry.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
Preferred
- UK QTS desirable.
- Up-to-date knowledge of current developments in horticulture and land-based studies.
- Experience of working effectively with learners from a wide range of backgrounds.
