The Opportunity:

As Housemistress, you will be responsible for the academic and pastoral care of students in St Bede’s Boarding House. This role is both challenging and deeply rewarding, offering the opportunity to shape young lives within a vibrant and inclusive community. The successful candidate will play a key role in fostering a culture of learning, safety, and personal growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide academic and pastoral support to all students within the House.
  • Ensure the safety, welfare, and formation of students in their care.
  • Manage the daily running of the House, including dormitories and shared spaces.
  • Promote a culture of learning and personal development within the House.
  • Collaborate with teaching and support staff to deliver a cohesive and enriching experience.
  • Contribute to co-curricular activities, including games and other school events.
  • Support students in their spiritual and moral development in line with Catholic values.
  • Maintain open communication with parents and the wider school community.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Experience in working with young people, ideally in a residential or pastoral setting.
  • A commitment to Catholic values and the principles of Benedictine education.
  • Strong leadership and organisational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.

Preferred

  • Experience in teaching or mentoring within a school environment.
  • Familiarity with boarding school life and the unique needs of residential students.
  • Ability to contribute to co-curricular activities such as games or arts.
  • Experience in safeguarding and welfare of children.
