The Opportunity:

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Houseparent to join our boarding team and contribute to the well-being and development of students aged 7 to 19. This is a full-time, term-time only position with two days off per week, offering a supportive and dynamic working environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and maintain a welcoming, tidy, and homely atmosphere in the boarding house.
  • Monitor student behaviour and address disciplinary issues in a fair and appropriate manner.
  • Uphold standards of dress, appearance, and personal hygiene among students.
  • Ensure a calm and focused environment during prep and maintain an orderly bedtime routine.
  • Ensure students are punctual for breakfast and ready for the school day.
  • Handle emergencies and escort students to medical appointments as needed.
  • Oversee the completion of pastoral reports and maintain accurate records of student welfare.
  • Be a visible and approachable presence, regularly moving through all areas of the house.
  • Maintain regular communication with parents and support the school’s safeguarding policies.
  • Sleep in the house on all duty nights and cover additional duties as required.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience working with children and an understanding of their needs in a boarding environment.
  • Strong communication skills with both adults and young people.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and child protection policies.
  • High level of confidentiality, punctuality, and organisational skills.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and work effectively within a team.
  • A full, clean driving licence.

Preferred

  • Previous experience in boarding or residential environments.
  • First Aid qualification.
  • BSA (Boarding School Association) qualification or willingness to obtain one.
  • Experience driving a minibus or willingness to learn.
