The Opportunity:
We are seeking a passionate and innovative Humanities Teacher (Geography or RE/Sociology) to join a supportive and collaborative team. The successful candidate may also have the potential to take on a leadership role as Head of Year.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality, engaging lessons in Geography or RE/Sociology that inspire and challenge students.
- Collaborate with colleagues to co-plan and share best practice, ensuring a consistent and innovative approach to teaching and learning.
- Support the academic and personal development of students through effective teaching, pastoral care, and guidance.
- Participate in continuous professional development and contribute to the school’s commitment to excellence in education.
- Work closely with the school’s leadership team and partner schools to implement new initiatives and projects.
- Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student achievement and well-being.
- Contribute to the wider school community through extracurricular activities and events.
- Monitor and assess student progress, providing constructive feedback to support learning and development.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified teacher with relevant subject knowledge in Geography or Religious Education/Sociology.
- Proven experience in teaching and delivering Humanities subjects at the appropriate level.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents.
- Commitment to continuous professional development and a willingness to engage in collaborative learning.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and take on additional responsibilities where appropriate.
Preferred
- Experience in leading a department or taking on a leadership role such as Head of Year.
- Experience with curriculum development and innovative teaching methods.
- Familiarity with the use of technology in the classroom.
- Experience in working with diverse student groups and supporting students with a range of needs.
