The Opportunity:
We are seeking an enthusiastic and qualified IB MYP Science Teacher to join our dedicated team. This role involves teaching two middle school classes and supporting the school's commitment to inquiry-based, conceptually driven science education. The ideal candidate will be passionate about science and committed to student success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach two middle school science classes in the IB MYP programme
- Support students with diverse learning needs and varying levels of English proficiency
- Utilize online tools and technology to enhance student learning and engagement
- Collaborate with colleagues across the department and contribute to interdisciplinary initiatives
- Participate in curriculum review and development to ensure alignment with IB standards
- Supervise and support students in the Personal Project and other academic initiatives
- Contribute to homeroom and advisor responsibilities, building strong relationships with students
- Engage in extra-curricular activities, service programmes, and school expeditions
- Demonstrate a commitment to the school’s mission, values, and child safeguarding policies
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Extensive experience teaching science in the IB Middle Years Programme
- Strong subject knowledge in science
- Relevant teaching qualifications in science
- Excellent references and a passion for science education
- Commitment to inquiry-based and conceptually driven teaching
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and students
- Willingness to support students beyond designated classes when needed
- Understanding of formative assessment and its role in learning
Preferred
- Experience with curriculum review and development
- Familiarity with action research and data-driven teaching practices
- Experience with teaching students with diverse learning needs
- Experience with international mindedness and cross-cultural collaboration
- Experience with the Personal Project or other student-led inquiry initiatives
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience with online learning platforms and tools
