The Opportunity:
The Junior School Deputy Head plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation and continued success of the Junior School. This position supports the Head of the Junior School in delivering a forward-thinking educational experience, while fostering a culture of professional development and excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and oversee the day-to-day operations of the Junior School.
- Support the Head of the Junior School in leading and developing the curriculum.
- Foster a positive and inclusive school culture, promoting staff and student well-being.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to ensure alignment with the school's strategic vision.
- Provide leadership and guidance to teaching and support staff.
- Develop and implement policies that enhance the educational experience for pupils.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with parents and the wider school community.
- Monitor and evaluate the performance of junior school departments and staff.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven leadership experience in an educational setting.
- Strong organisational and management skills.
- Experience in curriculum development and school operations.
- A commitment to inclusive and supportive education.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred
- Experience in a deputy leadership role within a school.
- Familiarity with the Girls’ Day School Trust (GDST) ethos.
- Experience in fostering professional development among staff.
- Background in a school merger or integration process.
