The Opportunity:

The Junior School Deputy Head plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation and continued success of the Junior School. This position supports the Head of the Junior School in delivering a forward-thinking educational experience, while fostering a culture of professional development and excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and oversee the day-to-day operations of the Junior School.
  • Support the Head of the Junior School in leading and developing the curriculum.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive school culture, promoting staff and student well-being.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to ensure alignment with the school's strategic vision.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to teaching and support staff.
  • Develop and implement policies that enhance the educational experience for pupils.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with parents and the wider school community.
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of junior school departments and staff.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven leadership experience in an educational setting.
  • Strong organisational and management skills.
  • Experience in curriculum development and school operations.
  • A commitment to inclusive and supportive education.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred

  • Experience in a deputy leadership role within a school.
  • Familiarity with the Girls’ Day School Trust (GDST) ethos.
  • Experience in fostering professional development among staff.
  • Background in a school merger or integration process.
