The Opportunity:
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Junior School Music Teacher/Coordinator to join our team. This role involves teaching Music to students in Years 1 to 6 and leading all musical activities within the Junior School. The successful candidate will contribute to a vibrant, creative, and performance-driven school culture.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, deliver, and evaluate high-quality music lessons aligned with the English National Curriculum and school policies.
- Coordinate the Junior School music programme to ensure consistency, progression, and high standards.
- Lead the planning and delivery of concerts, performances, and musical contributions to assemblies and school events.
- Establish and oversee age-appropriate music clubs, choirs, and ensembles.
- Promote inclusive participation in music, ensuring opportunities are accessible to all pupils.
- Contribute to the ongoing development and review of the Junior School music curriculum.
- Select, manage, and maintain musical instruments and resources safely and effectively.
- Communicate effectively with parents regarding pupils’ musical progress and enrichment opportunities.
- Uphold the school’s safeguarding and child protection policies at all times.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Recognised teaching qualification with a specialism or strong background in music.
- Excellent teaching skills and strong musicianship, including confidence leading singing and performances.
- Competence in the Piano.
- Ability to teach Music across all Key Stages in the Junior School.
- Commitment to safeguarding children.
- Excellent communication, organisation, and teamwork skills.
- Ability to use ICT to facilitate learning and for effective management and administration.
Preferred
- Knowledge of the International Primary Curriculum (IPC).
- Experience in leading school performances.
- Experience of being part of a highly successful department and school.
- Experience in teaching within an International School or a British School environment.
