The Opportunity:

A school is seeking a Junior School SEMH Specialist Teacher to support students from Reception to Year 6. This role is crucial in promoting emotional wellbeing and academic success through targeted interventions and collaborative support. The ideal candidate will be passionate about making a positive impact on young learners.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement evidence-based strategies to support students with social, emotional, and mental health needs.
  • Deliver small group and 1:1 support sessions tailored to individual student needs.
  • Collaborate with class teachers, pastoral leaders, and parents to create and monitor personalised support plans.
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of social skills programmes and wellbeing initiatives.
  • Work proactively with the school community to embed a preventative and strengths-based approach to student wellbeing.
  • Maintain detailed records and communicate regularly with relevant stakeholders.
  • Participate in staff meetings, training, and professional development opportunities.
  • Support the school’s mission to create a positive, caring, and aspirational learning environment.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with experience in SEMH support within a Junior School setting.
  • Experience in developing and delivering social skills programmes and wellbeing interventions.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build trusting relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team and contribute to a supportive school culture.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Preferred

  • Experience in a British International School or similar educational setting.
  • Familiarity with the IB and IGCSE curricula.
  • Experience in creating and implementing targeted interventions for students with SEMH needs.
  • Fluency in a second language, particularly Mandarin or Korean.
  • Experience in using digital tools and platforms for teaching and learning.
