The Opportunity:

As a Kitchen Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the catering team to prepare and provide high-quality, nutritious meals for students. This is a permanent position with flexible hours, including term-time and holiday work, offering a rewarding opportunity to contribute to the well-being of students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and assist in the preparation of meals in line with nutritional guidelines and school requirements.
  • Maintain a clean and hygienic working environment in accordance with food safety standards.
  • Support the catering team in the efficient operation of the kitchen during meal times.
  • Assist with deep cleaning and maintenance tasks during school holidays.
  • Follow health and safety procedures to ensure a safe working environment for all.
  • Collaborate with other staff members to ensure smooth service and timely meal provision.
  • Undertake training and development opportunities as required.
  • Store and manage food supplies in a timely and organized manner.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Previous experience in food preparation, preferably in a professional kitchen or catering environment.
  • Basic knowledge of food hygiene and safety standards.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including term-time and school holidays.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety.

Preferred

  • Experience working in an educational setting or with children.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Experience with food storage and inventory management.

  • Annual salary of £5,667.98, paid in 12 equal instalments.
