As a Kitchen Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the catering team to prepare and provide high-quality, nutritious meals for students. This is a permanent position with flexible hours, including term-time and holiday work, offering a rewarding opportunity to contribute to the well-being of students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and assist in the preparation of meals in line with nutritional guidelines and school requirements.
- Maintain a clean and hygienic working environment in accordance with food safety standards.
- Support the catering team in the efficient operation of the kitchen during meal times.
- Assist with deep cleaning and maintenance tasks during school holidays.
- Follow health and safety procedures to ensure a safe working environment for all.
- Collaborate with other staff members to ensure smooth service and timely meal provision.
- Undertake training and development opportunities as required.
- Store and manage food supplies in a timely and organized manner.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Previous experience in food preparation, preferably in a professional kitchen or catering environment.
- Basic knowledge of food hygiene and safety standards.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including term-time and school holidays.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety.
Preferred
- Experience working in an educational setting or with children.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Experience with food storage and inventory management.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Annual salary of £5,667.98, paid in 12 equal instalments.
