Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver high-quality English curriculum that meets the needs of all learners.
  • Lead and support a team of teachers, providing guidance, mentoring, and professional development.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, using data to inform teaching and improve outcomes.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to implement innovative teaching strategies and initiatives.
  • Engage with parents and the wider community to promote student achievement and school values.
  • Contribute to the strategic planning and development of the English department.
  • Ensure a safe and inclusive learning environment that promotes student well-being and engagement.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and share best practices across the school.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with experience in leading a department or team.
  • Proven track record of raising student achievement and outcomes.
  • Strong knowledge of the English curriculum and current educational research.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and innovation in teaching.

Preferred

  • Experience in a high-performing school or multi-academy trust.
  • Familiarity with Ofsted standards and school improvement initiatives.
  • Experience with cross-phase or multi-academy trust collaboration.
  • Ability to contribute to school-wide leadership and strategic development.
