The Opportunity:
As a Lead Practitioner English, you will play a key role in driving teaching and learning excellence across the English faculty. This is an opportunity to lead, influence, and inspire, while contributing to the continuous improvement of student achievement and educational practice.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and support the development of high-quality teaching and learning across the English department.
- Work closely with the Assistant Headteacher and wider school team to ensure consistency and excellence in educational outcomes.
- Monitor and evaluate student progress, providing targeted support and intervention where needed.
- Deliver professional development sessions and mentor colleagues to enhance teaching practices.
- Contribute to the creation and implementation of departmental strategies and improvement plans.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement and innovation in English teaching.
- Ensure that all students are engaged and challenged, with a focus on raising achievement across all ability levels.
- Support the wider school community through collaboration and shared leadership.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified teacher with a strong background in English education.
- Proven experience in leading and improving teaching and learning outcomes.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues at all levels.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to student achievement and professional development.
Preferred
- Experience in senior leadership or leadership development.
- Familiarity with curriculum development and assessment strategies.
- Experience with teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) or working in diverse learning environments.
- Strong track record of achieving good or outstanding student results.
