The Opportunity:
As a Lead Science Teacher, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of science education. You will lead the development of high-quality teaching and learning practices, support colleagues, and drive student success across the department.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver outstanding teaching and learning in science lessons and intervention sessions.
- Provide coaching and mentoring support to staff and students within the department.
- Evaluate and report on the impact of learning strategies to senior and middle leaders.
- Design and deliver Continuing Professional Development (CPD) sessions for science teachers.
- Support the implementation of the school’s academic curriculum and extracurricular science initiatives.
- Collaborate with the Teaching & Learning Team to drive continuous improvement in pedagogical practice.
- Monitor and assess student progress, providing targeted support where needed.
- Contribute to the development of departmental policies and strategies.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified teacher with relevant science subject knowledge.
- Proven experience in leading and managing a science department.
- Strong track record in delivering high-quality science teaching and learning.
- Experience in providing coaching and mentoring to colleagues.
- Ability to evaluate and report on the impact of teaching strategies.
- Commitment to professional development and continuous improvement.
Preferred
- Experience in leading CPD sessions for teachers.
- Familiarity with the Aspire curriculum and extracurricular science programmes.
- Experience in using innovative teaching methods and technologies.
