The Opportunity:

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a crucial role in helping students overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential. You will work closely with teaching staff and the SENCo to support individuals and small groups, making a meaningful impact on student outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support teaching staff and the SENCo in delivering targeted interventions for students with learning needs.
  • Assist in developing individual learning plans and track student progress.
  • Work with small groups and individual students to provide one-to-one or small group support.
  • Communicate regularly with parents, teaching staff, and other support staff to ensure consistency in student support.
  • Contribute to the development of inclusive learning environments and strategies.
  • Participate in training and professional development opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports on student progress and interventions.
  • Promote positive behaviour and a supportive learning environment for all students.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Relevant experience or education in education, particularly in supporting students with learning needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Preferred

  • Experience working in a school or educational setting.
  • Knowledge of special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
  • Experience with teaching or supporting students in a mainstream or inclusive environment.
  • Graduates considering a future career in teaching.
