The Opportunity:

A Learning Support Assistant is needed to provide essential support to students with Special Educational Needs and those requiring additional assistance. This role plays a vital part in ensuring students receive tailored support, enabling them to access the curriculum and achieve their full potential within a supportive and inclusive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support teachers in delivering the curriculum to students with Special Educational Needs.
  • Assist in the planning and preparation of modified and adapted learning materials.
  • Provide individual and group support to students in developing language, literacy, numeracy, motor skills, and behaviour.
  • Monitor and supervise students during the daily homework club.
  • Encourage independent learning and help students stay focused and on task.
  • Write work on behalf of students when required.
  • Ensure a safe and caring environment for all students.
  • Evaluate student progress and provide verbal feedback to the class teacher.
  • Support the school’s Behaviour Policy and attend relevant training and meetings.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Good academic qualifications.
  • Strong organisational, administrative, and communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, particularly with young people.
  • A flexible approach and willingness to go the extra mile.
  • Commitment, reliability, and patience.

Preferred

  • Experience working with students with Special Educational Needs.
  • Previous experience in a school or educational setting.
  • Experience in writing or preparing educational materials.
  • Familiarity with curriculum planning and delivery.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Competitive salary in line with the BR4 pay scale.
  • 5.6 weeks of paid holiday per year.
  • Term-time working with 185 days of service per academic year.
