The Opportunity:
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work directly with individual pupils who require 1:1 support, helping them overcome barriers to learning and achieve their potential. This role is a chance to make a real and lasting difference in the lives of young people who need understanding, consistency, and belief in their abilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support individual pupils with a range of social, emotional, and learning challenges
- Work closely with pupils, families, carers, and external agencies to ensure holistic support
- Collaborate with professionals such as Social Workers, Speech and Language Therapists, and Educational Psychologists
- Promote the welfare, safety, and wellbeing of all pupils
- Contribute to the day-to-day organisation and administration of the school
- Support the school’s improvement journey and implement strategies for pupil development
- Undertake additional responsibilities as required to meet the needs of the school community
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Previous experience working in a SEND school or specialist setting
- Grade C (or equivalent) in English and Maths
- A calm, consistent, and nurturing approach
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Commitment to supporting pupils in overcoming barriers to learning and achievement
Preferred
- Experience working with pupils with SEMH needs, autism, or learning differences
- Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection policies
- Experience in developing and implementing individual support plans
- Experience working with external agencies and multi-disciplinary teams
