The Opportunity:

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work directly with individual pupils who require 1:1 support, helping them overcome barriers to learning and achieve their potential. This role is a chance to make a real and lasting difference in the lives of young people who need understanding, consistency, and belief in their abilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support individual pupils with a range of social, emotional, and learning challenges
  • Work closely with pupils, families, carers, and external agencies to ensure holistic support
  • Collaborate with professionals such as Social Workers, Speech and Language Therapists, and Educational Psychologists
  • Promote the welfare, safety, and wellbeing of all pupils
  • Contribute to the day-to-day organisation and administration of the school
  • Support the school’s improvement journey and implement strategies for pupil development
  • Undertake additional responsibilities as required to meet the needs of the school community

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Previous experience working in a SEND school or specialist setting
  • Grade C (or equivalent) in English and Maths
  • A calm, consistent, and nurturing approach
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Commitment to supporting pupils in overcoming barriers to learning and achievement

Preferred

  • Experience working with pupils with SEMH needs, autism, or learning differences
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection policies
  • Experience in developing and implementing individual support plans
  • Experience working with external agencies and multi-disciplinary teams
