The Opportunity:
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will provide essential support to pupils with a range of social, emotional, and learning needs. You will help them overcome barriers to learning, build confidence, and achieve their full potential in both academic and personal development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safeguard and promote the welfare, safety, and wellbeing of all pupils
- Provide consistent 1:1 and small group support tailored to individual learning needs
- Support the day-to-day organisation and smooth running of the classroom
- Work in line with professional standards, statutory requirements, and school policies
- Build positive, professional relationships with pupils, colleagues, and families
- Contribute to the school’s continued development and improvement journey
- Undertake additional responsibilities as required
- Ensure the implementation of agreed areas of work, reviewed annually through performance management
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Experience working with pupils with special educational needs
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
- Flexibility and adaptability to meet the needs of diverse learners
Preferred
- Experience in a school or educational setting
- Knowledge of speech and language support or related interventions
- Experience with behaviour management strategies
- Previous experience working with pupils with SEMH needs
- Experience with 1:1 and small group teaching
