The Opportunity:

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will provide essential support to pupils with a range of social, emotional, and learning needs. You will help them overcome barriers to learning, build confidence, and achieve their full potential in both academic and personal development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safeguard and promote the welfare, safety, and wellbeing of all pupils
  • Provide consistent 1:1 and small group support tailored to individual learning needs
  • Support the day-to-day organisation and smooth running of the classroom
  • Work in line with professional standards, statutory requirements, and school policies
  • Build positive, professional relationships with pupils, colleagues, and families
  • Contribute to the school’s continued development and improvement journey
  • Undertake additional responsibilities as required
  • Ensure the implementation of agreed areas of work, reviewed annually through performance management

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience working with pupils with special educational needs
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the needs of diverse learners

Preferred

  • Experience in a school or educational setting
  • Knowledge of speech and language support or related interventions
  • Experience with behaviour management strategies
  • Previous experience working with pupils with SEMH needs
  • Experience with 1:1 and small group teaching
