The Opportunity:

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a crucial role in assisting students with special educational needs to achieve their full potential. Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students with special educational needs in a variety of learning and personal care activities.
  • Assist with daily routines including toileting, feeding, and personal hygiene.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff and other support professionals to meet individual student needs.
  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to help students develop independence and life skills.
  • Monitor and report on student progress to ensure consistent support and development.
  • Maintain a safe and positive learning environment for all students.
  • Participate in staff meetings and training sessions to enhance professional development.
  • Follow safeguarding and welfare policies to ensure the well-being of students.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people.
  • Experience working with students with special educational needs or disabilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organisational and time management abilities.
  • A willingness to undertake all aspects of personal care support.
  • Physical fitness and the ability to perform manual tasks.

Preferred

  • Previous experience in an educational or care setting.
  • Experience with students with autism or profound and multiple learning difficulties.
  • Knowledge of inclusive education practices.
  • Experience with teaching or supporting life skills.
