The Opportunity:

As a Learning Support Assistant with Parking Duties, you will play a vital role in supporting students with social and communication needs. This is a dynamic, term-time only role that offers the opportunity to work closely with a multidisciplinary team and make a real difference in the lives of children.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1-1 and whole-class support to students with special educational needs.
  • Assist with the management of challenging behaviour in a positive and supportive manner.
  • Support during drop-off and pick-up times by directing traffic and ensuring the safety of students, staff, and visitors.
  • Maintain learning environments and assist with administrative tasks as required.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and other support staff to enhance student outcomes.
  • Deliver consistent, positive reinforcement and support to students in a nurturing environment.
  • Ensure the safe and efficient movement of traffic in the car park, in all weather conditions.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience working with children with special educational needs, particularly those on the autism spectrum.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and staff.
  • Confidence, enthusiasm, and a passion for learning and supporting children.
  • Good English (spoken and written) and numeracy skills.
  • Experience in behaviour management and the ability to promote positive behaviour in a nurturing environment.
  • Mental and physical resilience to cope with the demands of the role.

Preferred

  • Previous experience in a similar support role within an educational setting.
  • Knowledge of Makaton or other communication support strategies.
  • Experience in delivering training or support within a classroom environment.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and training.
