The Opportunity:
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils with complex social, emotional, and communication needs. You will work closely with teachers to deliver personalised learning support, helping students reach their full potential in a safe and inclusive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work closely with teachers to deliver personalised learning support tailored to each pupil’s needs
- Provide one-to-one and small group support to pupils with complex social, emotional, and communication needs
- Assist with preparing classroom materials and supporting lesson delivery
- Foster a safe, inclusive environment that promotes respect, positive behaviour, and pupil independence
- Help implement individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour strategies under teacher guidance
- Monitor and report on pupil progress, contributing to reviews and planning
- Promote safeguarding and ensure the welfare and safety of all pupils
- Collaborate with therapists, external agencies, and the wider school team to support pupil development
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Educated to GCSE grade C/4 or above in Maths and English
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive, trusting relationships with pupils and colleagues
- Calm, patient, and resilient with a genuine passion for supporting young people
- Team player who thrives in a collaborative, supportive environment
Preferred
- Previous experience in SEN or ASC settings
- Experience in customer-facing roles in retail, hospitality, or leisure
