The Opportunity:
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) within a dynamic and innovative learning environment. Key Responsibilities:
- Support learning and teaching across the curriculum, particularly for students with SEND.
- Assist in planning, reviewing, and delivering curriculum content in both 1:1 and small group settings.
- Provide support for student health, safety, welfare, and emotional and behavioural needs.
- Ensure that SEND support is delivered in line with the school’s Self-Directed Learning Philosophy.
- Collaborate with teachers and colleagues to create inclusive and engaging learning experiences.
- Promote a positive and supportive classroom environment that encourages student engagement and growth.
- Monitor and report on student progress and development regularly.
- Participate in professional development and training opportunities to enhance teaching and support practices.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Prior experience as a Learning Support Assistant or in a similar role.
- Understanding of special educational needs as defined in the SEN Code of Practice.
- Ability to work effectively in a team and support students with diverse learning needs.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to safeguarding and child protection.
Preferred
- NVQ Level 2 or equivalent qualification.
- Experience with self-directed learning frameworks.
- Familiarity with technology-enhanced learning environments.
- Experience in a school setting with a focus on student well-being and personal development.
