The Opportunity:

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) within a dynamic and innovative learning environment. Key Responsibilities:

  • Support learning and teaching across the curriculum, particularly for students with SEND.
  • Assist in planning, reviewing, and delivering curriculum content in both 1:1 and small group settings.
  • Provide support for student health, safety, welfare, and emotional and behavioural needs.
  • Ensure that SEND support is delivered in line with the school’s Self-Directed Learning Philosophy.
  • Collaborate with teachers and colleagues to create inclusive and engaging learning experiences.
  • Promote a positive and supportive classroom environment that encourages student engagement and growth.
  • Monitor and report on student progress and development regularly.
  • Participate in professional development and training opportunities to enhance teaching and support practices.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Prior experience as a Learning Support Assistant or in a similar role.
  • Understanding of special educational needs as defined in the SEN Code of Practice.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and support students with diverse learning needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and child protection.

Preferred

  • NVQ Level 2 or equivalent qualification.
  • Experience with self-directed learning frameworks.
  • Familiarity with technology-enhanced learning environments.
  • Experience in a school setting with a focus on student well-being and personal development.
