The Opportunity:
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will support students with SEMH and SEND in a small, nurturing environment. You will work closely with teachers to deliver engaging and differentiated lessons, helping students achieve both academic and emotional growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support pupils with SEMH and SEND in a structured and therapeutic setting
- Assist in planning and delivering differentiated lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4
- Work collaboratively with teachers and therapists to meet individual student needs
- Use de-escalation techniques to manage challenging behaviour in a calm and supportive manner
- Provide emotional and academic support to students in a small class environment
- Ensure the safety and wellbeing of students through adherence to safeguarding policies
- Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment
- Maintain accurate records and communicate regularly with teaching staff
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Experience working with children or young people with SEMH and/or SEND
- Ability to manage challenging behaviour using de-escalation techniques
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to safeguarding and student wellbeing
- Experience in a school, PRU, or alternative provision setting
Preferred
- Level 2 or 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching & Learning
