The Opportunity:

As a Learning Support Assistant - Maths, you will play a vital role in supporting students' academic and personal development. This position offers the chance to make a meaningful impact in a progressive and inclusive school setting, working closely with the maths department to enhance student learning outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the learning and personal development of pupils to maximise their educational opportunities.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff in the maths department to assist in planning and resource management.
  • Provide one-to-one learning support and assist in the delivery of maths lessons.
  • Deliver detailed verbal and written feedback on lesson content and student progress.
  • Use behaviour management strategies to maintain a purposeful learning environment.
  • Promote student self-esteem, independence, and inclusion in all aspects of school life.
  • Prepare and deliver specialist interventions under the direction of senior staff.
  • Keep accurate records of pupil progress in line with school systems.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience in providing learning support, particularly in a maths context.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with students, teachers, and parents.
  • Understanding of special educational needs and inclusive teaching practices.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Preferred

  • Experience in teaching or supporting maths at a primary or secondary level.
  • Familiarity with lesson planning, IEP targets, and learning objectives.
  • Experience with behaviour management strategies in an educational setting.
  • Knowledge of educational technologies and resources.
