The Opportunity:

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will support students with physical disabilities and medical needs, helping them overcome barriers to learning and thrive in an inclusive environment. This role is essential in ensuring every student receives the individualised support they need to succeed academically and personally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students with physical disabilities and medical needs in accessing the curriculum and school environment.
  • Assist with mobility, personal care, and health care strategies under the guidance of the SENDCO.
  • Collaborate with teachers, medical professionals, and support staff to develop individualised learning plans.
  • Provide one-on-one and group support to students, ensuring their safety and comfort.
  • Liaise with parents and carers to maintain consistent communication and support.
  • Participate in training and professional development to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Contribute to the creation of inclusive and accessible learning environments.
  • Uphold the school's commitment to safeguarding and child protection at all times.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience supporting children or young people with additional needs, particularly those with physical disabilities or complex medical conditions.
  • NVQ Level 3 in Teaching Assistant (or equivalent) qualification.
  • Strong literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • Willingness to undertake relevant training, such as first aid and moving and handling.

Preferred

  • Experience working within a school or educational setting.
  • Knowledge of inclusive education practices.
  • Experience in developing individual support plans.
  • Familiarity with health care strategies for students with medical needs.
  • Ability to work flexibly and adapt to changing environments.
