Key Responsibilities:

  • Build strong relationships with learners, focusing on their individual needs and challenges.
  • Facilitate challenging conversations with learners, ensuring their voice is heard and respected.
  • Advocate for mental health and build a supportive, inclusive community.
  • Work closely with learners to identify personal and educational goals, creating tailored support plans.
  • Lead and inspire staff to effectively support learners, especially when addressing mental health challenges.
  • Manage individualised schedules with exceptional attention to detail, ensuring safeguarding responsibilities are met.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, including occupational therapists and speech and language therapists, to support learners.
  • Adapt lesson planning and strategies to meet the diverse needs of learners and ensure progress aligns with long-term goals.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience working with autistic young people.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in developing and implementing individualised learning plans.
  • Ability to manage and lead a team effectively.
  • Commitment to promoting mental health and well-being.

Preferred

  • Experience with safeguarding and reporting procedures.
  • Knowledge of assistive technology and its use in education.
  • Experience in preparing learners for life after college, including employment and independent living.
  • Background in autism studies or related fields.
