The Opportunity:

As a Literacy Intervention Teacher, you will play a vital role in improving literacy outcomes for students across the school. This position involves leading small intervention groups, promoting literacy across the curriculum, and supporting the Learning Resource Centre. Your work will directly impact student success and school-wide educational standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver targeted literacy interventions for students with low literacy levels.
  • Promote literacy across all subject areas and year groups.
  • Manage and support the Learning Resource Centre to ensure it is an effective hub for learning.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff to integrate literacy strategies into everyday lessons.
  • Monitor and assess student progress in literacy, providing regular feedback to colleagues and parents.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities and contribute to the school’s continuous improvement.
  • Support the implementation of phonics and reading programs.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports on student progress and intervention outcomes.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with experience in literacy support or a related field.
  • Experience working with students of diverse abilities and backgrounds.
  • Strong knowledge of phonics, reading, and writing strategies.
  • Ability to lead small group interventions and deliver targeted support.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting student wellbeing.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.

Preferred

  • Experience in primary or secondary education settings.
  • Familiarity with the Learning Resource Centre and library management.
  • Experience with Teaching English as a Second Language (TESOL) or similar qualifications.
  • Background in literacy intervention or special educational needs support.
