The Opportunity:
As a Literacy Lead, you will play a pivotal role in driving literacy outcomes across the school. This is a unique opportunity to lead and inspire a team of educators, shaping a curriculum that fosters a love of reading and writing in students from Year 7 to Year 11.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a whole-school literacy strategy that aligns with curriculum goals.
- Support and mentor teachers in delivering high-quality literacy instruction.
- Monitor and evaluate student progress in literacy, identifying areas for improvement.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to integrate literacy across all subjects.
- Design and deliver professional development sessions for staff focused on literacy best practices.
- Work with external partners and stakeholders to enhance literacy opportunities for students.
- Ensure that all students have access to resources and support that promote literacy success.
- Lead the development of assessments and interventions to support literacy development.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience in leading literacy initiatives in a school setting.
- Strong knowledge of literacy pedagogy and curriculum design.
- Demonstrated ability to support and develop teaching staff.
- Experience working with students across a range of abilities and backgrounds.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
Preferred
- Experience in a school trust or multi-academy setting.
- Familiarity with the Dixons Academies Trust values and approach to education.
- Experience with innovative teaching methods and technology integration.
- A track record of improving literacy outcomes in a school or department.
