The Opportunity:

As a Literacy Lead, you will play a pivotal role in driving literacy outcomes across the school. This is a unique opportunity to lead and inspire a team of educators, shaping a curriculum that fosters a love of reading and writing in students from Year 7 to Year 11.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a whole-school literacy strategy that aligns with curriculum goals.
  • Support and mentor teachers in delivering high-quality literacy instruction.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress in literacy, identifying areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to integrate literacy across all subjects.
  • Design and deliver professional development sessions for staff focused on literacy best practices.
  • Work with external partners and stakeholders to enhance literacy opportunities for students.
  • Ensure that all students have access to resources and support that promote literacy success.
  • Lead the development of assessments and interventions to support literacy development.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in leading literacy initiatives in a school setting.
  • Strong knowledge of literacy pedagogy and curriculum design.
  • Demonstrated ability to support and develop teaching staff.
  • Experience working with students across a range of abilities and backgrounds.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.

Preferred

  • Experience in a school trust or multi-academy setting.
  • Familiarity with the Dixons Academies Trust values and approach to education.
  • Experience with innovative teaching methods and technology integration.
  • A track record of improving literacy outcomes in a school or department.
