The Opportunity:
A Maintenance Assistant is required to support the upkeep of a school’s site and grounds. This role involves managing reactive maintenance tasks, assisting with ad-hoc requests, and liaising with contractors. The ideal candidate is a hands-on individual with a passion for DIY and a willingness to contribute to a welcoming and structured educational environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out reactive maintenance tasks across the school site and grounds.
- Assist with ad-hoc requests from management and support other homes in the community.
- Liaise with contractors and ensure all maintenance work is completed to a high standard.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and functional school environment.
- Support the school’s maintenance team in completing planned and unplanned tasks.
- Follow health and safety procedures at all times.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders.
- Keep accurate records of maintenance activities and repairs.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Experience in maintenance or DIY tasks such as plumbing, electrical, carpentry, or plastering.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
- Commitment to health and safety standards.
- Willingness to undergo safeguarding checks and provide references.
Preferred
- Relevant qualifications in maintenance or construction.
- Experience working in an educational or care setting.
- Flexibility to work on Thursdays and Fridays between 8am and 4pm.
- Interest in ongoing training and career progression.
