The Opportunity:
As a Maintenance Carpenter, you will play a vital role in maintaining and improving the school’s facilities. This position requires a skilled individual with experience in carpentry and joinery, who is committed to delivering high-quality work in a safe and professional environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain and repair wooden fixtures, furniture, doors, and windows across the school estate
- Manufacture and install bespoke joinery items to meet specific requirements
- Operate woodworking machinery safely and efficiently
- Ensure compliance with health and safety standards at all times
- Collaborate with the maintenance team to complete projects on time and to a high standard
- Carry out routine inspections and maintenance of wooden structures and fittings
- Keep detailed records of all work completed and materials used
- Support the school’s commitment to sustainability through responsible use of resources
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven carpentry or joinery experience
- Skilled in the use of woodworking machinery and hand tools
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Carpentry & Joinery or equivalent qualification
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently
- Commitment to health and safety standards
Preferred
- Experience in educational or institutional environments
- Knowledge of traditional carpentry techniques
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
Compensation & Benefits:
- Competitive salary of £31,000 - £33,000 per annum
