The Opportunity:

As a Maintenance Operative, you will play a key role in ensuring the upkeep and maintenance of the school's buildings and facilities. This is a vital position that supports the school’s mission to provide a safe, comfortable, and inspiring learning environment for students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out routine maintenance, repairs, and general upkeep of school buildings and facilities.
  • Ensure all maintenance work complies with health and safety policies and guidelines.
  • Coordinate with the Maintenance team to complete tasks to the required standard.
  • Maintain electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems across all school sites.
  • Proactively conduct repairs and renewals where competent to do so.
  • Report to the Maintenance Manager and line manager, the Head of Estates.
  • Support the upkeep of boarding and residential properties.
  • Ensure all work is completed in line with the school's expectations and standards.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience in building maintenance and repair.
  • Knowledge of electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
  • Ability to follow health and safety guidelines.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.

Preferred

  • Previous experience in a school or educational setting.
  • Experience with maintenance management systems.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to work across multiple sites and locations.
