The Opportunity:

As a Maintenance Supervisor & General Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring the school runs smoothly. This hands-on position involves overseeing maintenance, carrying out repairs, and supporting the school team with operational tasks. Driving the school van between sites is an essential part of the role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee general maintenance and ensure all areas of the school are in good condition.
  • Carry out repairs and maintenance tasks promptly and efficiently.
  • Support the wider school team with a range of operational and general assistance tasks.
  • Drive the school van between sites in accordance with safety and compliance standards.
  • Work closely with the Estates Manager to ensure all maintenance needs are met.
  • Maintain a safe, tidy, and well-run environment for students and staff.
  • Assist with the upkeep of the school’s historic and listed buildings.
  • Contribute to the smooth running of the school during events and daily operations.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in a maintenance or similar role, preferably in an educational setting.
  • Ability to carry out a range of repair and maintenance tasks with minimal supervision.
  • A valid full UK driving licence and experience driving a van.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Flexibility to work varied hours and respond to emergencies as required.

Preferred

  • Experience working in a school or educational institution.
  • Knowledge of building maintenance and repair techniques.
  • Experience with health and safety regulations in a school setting.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently.
  • Computer literacy and experience with basic maintenance software.
