The Opportunity:

As a Maintenance Supervisor, you will play a vital role in ensuring the school’s facilities are well-maintained, safe, and compliant with all regulations. This is a key position that supports the school’s mission to provide a high-quality educational experience for students and staff alike.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage maintenance and installation tasks across the school site.
  • Supervise and coordinate the work of the Estates team, including managing staff rotas and assigning maintenance requests.
  • Conduct and manage reactive and planned maintenance works to ensure all facilities are in good working order.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety standards, including carrying out risk assessments and delivering tool-box talks.
  • Manage the school’s vehicle fleet and ensure all safety and regulatory requirements are met.
  • Conduct compliance audits and site inspections to identify and mitigate risks.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports on maintenance activities and compliance checks.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Significant previous experience in a similar supervisory role, ideally within a complex organization.
  • Knowledge and experience of health and safety standards, with a relevant professional qualification such as IOSH, NEBOSH, IWFM, or CIOB.
  • Experience in compliance audits and site inspections, with the ability to identify and mitigate risks.
  • Background and qualifications in a trade discipline that can be applied more broadly.

Preferred

  • Previous experience in a school or boarding school environment.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Experience in managing vehicle fleets and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
