Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging, challenging, and intellectually stimulating Mandarin Chinese lessons to students aged 11-18.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of a high-quality curriculum aligned with international standards.
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student participation and achievement.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in the Modern Languages Department to enhance teaching practices and student outcomes.
  • Participate actively in the pastoral and co-curricular life of the school, including extracurricular activities and events.
  • Support students in developing intercultural understanding and communication skills.
  • Stay current with developments in language teaching and incorporate innovative methods into lessons.
  • Provide pastoral care and mentorship to students as needed.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with a relevant degree and teaching qualification (e.g., QTS, PGCE, or equivalent).
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience teaching Mandarin Chinese at secondary level.
  • Strong command of Mandarin Chinese and English.
  • Commitment to the school’s ethos of developing the whole person through education.
  • Experience in delivering high-quality, engaging lessons that meet academic standards.
  • Ability to contribute to the co-curricular and pastoral life of the school.

Preferred

  • Experience with teaching in an international or multicultural environment.
  • Familiarity with IGCSE and A-level curricula.
  • Experience with innovative and inclusive teaching practices.
  • Fluency in additional languages.
  • Experience with boarding school environments.
