Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging, challenging, and intellectually stimulating Mandarin Chinese lessons to students aged 11-18.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of a high-quality curriculum aligned with international standards.
- Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student participation and achievement.
- Collaborate with colleagues in the Modern Languages Department to enhance teaching practices and student outcomes.
- Participate actively in the pastoral and co-curricular life of the school, including extracurricular activities and events.
- Support students in developing intercultural understanding and communication skills.
- Stay current with developments in language teaching and incorporate innovative methods into lessons.
- Provide pastoral care and mentorship to students as needed.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified teacher with a relevant degree and teaching qualification (e.g., QTS, PGCE, or equivalent).
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience teaching Mandarin Chinese at secondary level.
- Strong command of Mandarin Chinese and English.
- Commitment to the school’s ethos of developing the whole person through education.
- Experience in delivering high-quality, engaging lessons that meet academic standards.
- Ability to contribute to the co-curricular and pastoral life of the school.
Preferred
- Experience with teaching in an international or multicultural environment.
- Familiarity with IGCSE and A-level curricula.
- Experience with innovative and inclusive teaching practices.
- Fluency in additional languages.
- Experience with boarding school environments.
