The Opportunity:

As a Maths Tutor, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality education to students in a small class setting. This is a great opportunity to make a real impact on student learning and development while working in a supportive and professional environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach students in accordance with their developmental needs, using a variety of stimulating and quality methods of learning.
  • Prepare lessons in line with the departmental Scheme of Work, college policies, and examination specifications.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the subject and relevant assessment methods.
  • Assist in updating department policies and curriculum planning.
  • Create teaching resources and promote literacy, numeracy, and ICT skills.
  • Provide homework and exam-based assignments, ensuring students receive the necessary support.
  • Support students with deadlines and ensure their work is correctly assessed and moderated.
  • Assist in student interviews and provide advice on course suitability.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A degree in maths or a relevant subject.
  • Experience of teaching and supporting young people aged 14+ in an educational context.
  • Ability to devise and implement a range of teaching strategies to promote learning and enjoyment of the subject.
  • Strong communication skills, both orally and in writing.
  • Confidence in using Microsoft Office and online systems/databases.
  • Knowledge of EAL practices and curriculum initiatives.

Preferred

  • Experience with teaching Key Stage 4 and post-16 level subjects.
  • Awareness of developments affecting the delivery of maths education.
  • Patience, perseverance, and a commitment to overcoming barriers to learning.
  • Inspiring and positive attitude to maintaining student discipline.
  • Team-focused attitude and willingness to support others.
