The Opportunity:
A Medical Support Assistant is needed to provide essential care and support to a child with Type 1 Diabetes in the Infant & Junior Division. This is a full-time position, primarily during term-time, with the potential for a job share arrangement. The role is vital in ensuring the child's well-being and full participation in school life.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support and monitor a child with Type 1 Diabetes throughout the school day.
- Administer and record insulin and other medical treatments as required.
- Communicate effectively with staff, parents, and healthcare professionals to ensure the child's needs are met.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records.
- Assist in the development and implementation of individual care plans.
- Provide emotional support and encouragement to the child in a safe and nurturing environment.
- Ensure compliance with all health and safety policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with other school staff to create a supportive and inclusive atmosphere.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Relevant qualifications in healthcare or a related field.
- Experience in providing medical support to children, particularly those with diabetes.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to remain calm and composed in emergency situations.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Preferred
- Previous experience working in an educational setting.
- Knowledge of diabetes management and care.
- Experience with administering medication and monitoring blood glucose levels.
- Flexibility to work during term-time and potentially on a job share basis.
