The Opportunity:
As a Middle School Chinese Teacher, you will play a key role in shaping the linguistic and cultural development of students in Grades 6–8. You will deliver dynamic instruction that aligns with the school’s mission and supports student success in Mandarin Chinese as a foreign language.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach Mandarin Chinese to students in Grades 6–8, following the school’s curriculum.
- Design and deliver student-centered lessons that promote language acquisition and cultural understanding.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of adolescent learners.
- Integrate technology and authentic cultural resources into lesson planning and delivery.
- Assess student progress through formative and summative evaluations.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance and communicate regularly with students and parents.
- Collaborate with colleagues to ensure curriculum alignment and share best practices.
- Contribute to the school’s co-curricular programs through clubs, cultural events, and other activities.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Chinese, Education, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience teaching Mandarin Chinese to middle school students.
- Strong understanding of adolescent development and learning strategies.
- Proficiency in Mandarin Chinese and English.
- Commitment to the school’s core values of character, inquiry, and community.
Preferred
- Master’s degree in Education or Chinese.
- Experience with teaching Mandarin as a foreign language.
- Familiarity with technology tools for language instruction.
- Experience in co-curricular or extracurricular program development.
